Peter Model died on June 9, 2017 after a brief period of declining health. He studied economics at Cornell and Stanford and then served in the US army as a first lieutenant. He worked in his father’s investment banking business but left after a few years to follow his interest in science. After obtaining a PhD in biochemistry from Columbia, he went across town to The Rockefeller University, in time becoming a full professor. His wife, Marjorie, children, Paul and Sascha, his brother, Allen, his grandchildren, Anna, Corey, Leo and Nica, and many other relatives, friends and colleagues miss him.
