Leona Helmsley hasn’t landed on Broadway yet, but she’s attained a more rarefied honor. The disgraced Manhattan real estate mogul is the latest headline-grabbing figure to join theater icon Tovah Feldshuh’s one-woman menagerie as the subject of “Tovah Is Leona!”
Feldshuh is scheduled to present the show’s Bay Area premiere Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21, at Feinstein’s at the Nikko in San Francisco. A cabaret act gleaned from the musical “The Queen of Mean” by composer Ron Passaro and lyricists David Lee and Alex Lippard, “Tovah Is Leona!” is part of Feldshuh’s ongoing campaign to drum up funding for a full Broadway production.
