Nicolae Eisenman (SHS 1983)

ARTIST

Nicole Eisenman’s senior quote in Bandersnatch doesn’t exactly promise a life of quietude. “Oh my lord there’s so much to do tomorrow. I think I’ll pour a pitcher of water down a mail chute! Eloise.”

As the art editor of Bandy, Nicole was able to show her various talents. Her cartoon on Werner Feig, the teacher honored by the class of 1983, is at once touching and hysterically funny. Nicole also left the school her own gift, an outsized painting that greeted students and teachers who arrived at the high school through the Post Road entrance. More than a decade ago, the painting vanished as part of a summer clear up. I hesitate to guess how much that little blunder cost the district.

Fortunately, Nicole’s education continued. After Scarsdale came the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA in Painting. She is a prolific artist whose work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art. She has lectured and mounted exhibitions thought the globe including London, Israel, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Grenoble, Athens, Bonn, Munich and Birmingham.
