Tovah Feldshuh (SHS 1966) Talks ‘Dancing with Giants’

Tovah Feldshuh enters the sanctuary at Congregation Rodeph Shalom in a short, sleeveless black dress and almost immediately wants to know if her interview will be recorded.

That’s how she wants it.

“I’m sure I have certain traits that are like, ‘Jeez, what’s she like?’ when I get to that part where I start laying out my standards that mean so much to me,” Feldshuh explained during the Oct. 22 interview.

Message from SAA President, Zachary Harrison (SHS 1991)

Dear Scarsdale Alumni Community:

I am honored and excited to be your new President of the Scarsdale Alumni Association. Our association is made up of an amazing, talented group of people, such as my predecessor Ricardo Garcia.  I would like to thank Ricardo for his years of dedicated service to our Association.

My three main goals for our Association are to increase the number of major SAA events we hold each year, create a scholarship fund for Scarsdale High School students of high achievement who have financial need, and to enhance our employment network both on our website and throughout the Association.

Scarsdale alumni share such a special bond having grown up in Scarsdale during their formative years.  It is my hope in the coming months that you will reconnect with Scarsdale and the SAA in your own way.  It could mean attending an SAA event, making a contribution, or volunteering to get involved. If you are interested in volunteering or have any ideas/suggestions, I would love to hear from you.  Please contact me at 917.299.7832, or [email protected].  Thanks and I look forward to seeing you soon!

Warm regards,

Zachary Harrison, Class of '91
President, Scarsdale Alumni Association

Announcing the new SAA President, Zachary Harrison (SHS 1991)

It has been an honor to serve as the President of the Scarsdale Alumni Association. I greatly enjoyed getting to know so many fellow alumni across the country and around the world. It was an incredible honor to work alongside Mr. Rothschild, with one of my fondest memories being our work together evaluating nominations for the Distinguished Alumni ceremony. He had ten incredible stories for each of the nominees - high school stories and stories from decades after - since many of his students always kept in touch. He was a gifted historian who could paint a picture full of color to perfectly express the feeling of time and place in our country. It would take us sometimes two hours to evaluate five candidates, but I would not have wanted it any other way!

Over the past few months, as we prepared for the transition to elect a new President of the Scarsdale Alumni Association, we received many nominations of very impressive alumni.

I'm very glad to announce that Zachary Harrison (SHS 1991) has been elected by the board to be the next president.

Jonathan Haidt (SHS1981), Professor of Ethical Leadership, on Generation Z Coming To The Workplace

From elite college campuses like Brown and Yale, professors are shunned by Generation Z students, born after 1995, for speech code violations they find offensive. Now, those students are entering the workforce.

The problem with today’s generation is that working with people who might disagree with your politics is defined as being part of a diverse community. Unless we find a way to harmonize our beliefs, the likelihood is that college unrest will spread to the workplace.
